We’ve been known to ask our Alexa device to tell us a joke, but she doesn’t compare to Alexa Fong Drubay, an expert in Laughter Yoga and a popular Copper House experience partner. This Alexa has a remarkable ability to get retreat attendees up dancing, miming, singing, and laughing. Laughter, she believes, really is the best medicine, and her delightful movement sessions help relieve stress, energize groups, and stimulate team building and workplace performance.
Each of Drubay’s one-hour fun, healthful, uplifting sessions includes a pre-session self-assessment, a gentle body warm-up, exercises involving the four elements of joy (laughter, dancing, singing and playfulness), slow down with mindfulness meditation, and a post-session reassessment. Participants leave empowered and energized, better able to overcome stressful moments, anxiety, and sour moods.
One of our recent groups discovered they were able wrap up their two-day business retreat early. During their time with Drubay, they de-stressed, had fun together, and got in synch as group, which made their work go more smoothly and quickly than usual.
Unlike many women, men often find it difficult to open up, be vulnerable, and be playful. Alexa is gifted with all groups, but we find she is especially masterful with men, as these videos attest.
Alexa is a Laughter Yoga Master Trainer who studied in India with Laughter Yoga founder, Dr. Madan Kataria. She is a graduate of Notre Dame of Maryland University and has lived and worked in NYC, Switzerland, France, and China.
Alexa is the Executive Director of Laughter Yoga USA.org and has conducted laughter programs for a broad spectrum of organizations including frontline healthcare workers, insurance companies, cancer survivor groups, the US Institute for Peace, National Institutes of Health, Dell Technologies, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. She also trains others to become certified Laughter Yoga Leaders and Teachers.
Next time you book your Copper House retreat, say, “Alexa, make our group laugh.”
