Remember when spring came and you begged your teacher to move class outside under the big oak tree? People are happier outdoors.
During the pandemic, when people couldn’t gather in indoor spaces, they flocked to parks and lawns. Multiple studies from that lockdown era have confirmed what we already knew: that trees and plants make people happier. A study in nine countries found that access to nature—even a balcony or a garden at home—lifted people’s moods and lessened their stress. And another study in Taiwan (I love this one!) studied the “window/wall ratio” in quarantined homes. The more windows, the better people felt, even if all they could see was a sliver of green.
Maybe that’s why groups are so relaxed, stress-free and productive at Copper House. It’s all nature all the time! Even when you’re indoors, it’s all windows.

Last weekend we hosted a group that was back for its third off-site retreat. The head of HR said, “I was so tired of off-sites in antiseptic hotels and meetings in grey conference rooms.” That’s why his team keeps returning to Copper House, where most of the time the group is gathering outdoors. It’s simple: people are happier, they laugh and play more, they bond with their colleagues and feel far more creative.
Spring and summer are great times to get your team out of those grey spaces and into green places. To book your next conference or retreat, click here.
We hope to see you soon—under that old oak tree.
